Questions people ask
- 01How much does a Shopify store cost?
- A Shopify store from Chalybs costs from £795 for a starter store and from £1,500 for a full store, plus Shopify’s own monthly fee. Every price is on our Prices page. How you pay: 40% to start, 40% at design sign-off, 20% at launch. Two rounds of changes included. Monthly services billed a month in advance. If you cancel, the month already paid for is not refunded. Prices are what you pay — no VAT added.
- 02Can I run it myself afterwards?
- Yes, you can run your Shopify store yourself. Shopify is built for owners to add products and change prices. You can do the day-to-day yourself and leave the fiddly bits to us.
- 03Will I lose my Google rankings if I move?
- You should not lose your Google rankings when you move to Shopify, if the move is done properly. We map every old page to its new one before anything goes live.
- 04Do I need Shopify Plus?
- You almost certainly do not need Shopify Plus. Plus is built for very large stores and costs thousands a month. We’ll tell you if you ever get there.
- 05What do you need from me?
- To build a Shopify store, Chalybs needs your product list, your photos and a quick chat.
- 06Can customers pay securely?
- Yes. Shopify’s checkout is secure and accepts cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.
- 07Will my store work on mobile?
- Yes. Every Shopify store Chalybs builds is mobile-first, because that’s where most people shop.
- 08Can I manage my own products and orders?
- Yes. You add products, change stock and handle orders yourself in Shopify. We can help with price and stock changes on the Looked after plan.
- 09Do I own my store?
- Yes, you own your Shopify store. The Shopify account, domain and all your data are in your name from day one.
